1998 Chevy Astro Cranks But Won't Start

I have a 1998 Chevy Astro ,Gulf Stream Conversion, With approx. 85,000 miles on it. Last week it wouldn't start. It would crank but nothing else. We checked the airfilter, and it's new,so it was fine. But,we were not able to take anything else apart. We did smell gas when we tried to start it with the air filter removed. Later that day, it started right up, no problem. The only thing different was the temp outside. It was warm in the morning, and much cooler later in the day.

Today, I started it several times without a problem, until this afternoon. Came out of the grocery store and it wouldn't start. Same as before, and it's hot outside. Battery is good, checked the oil and transmission fluid, and they're fine. ( don't know if that was dumb, but I'm a girl) Everything is the way it should be as far as I can tell, but it won't start. It's still sitting in the parking lot at the store because I can't have it towed until tomorrow.

Truthfully, this car has had a lot of problems. We bought it used and we've had several issues. Windows won't roll up sometimes, after locking and doors, they unlock again on their own. Someone said it could be the computer? Does this make sense? Any ideas? I thought fuel pump, but again, I'm a girl. I would be really grateful for any input. Thanks!

I had a problem starting a 1997 Safari after sitting overnight or damp.
Cranked but did not start. The plugs were due to be replaced
so I did so. The problem continued. I tried a lot of things.
Then I did the plugs again MYSELF with a friend. Two of the plugs
were misgapped, one by a lot. I know they are supposed to be
pregapped but two were wrong although they came in the right box.

The mechanic never checked or screwed up. I put in some Bosch with
multi side electrodes and it starts like a charm. I have driven it for
the past 6 months through winter and spring rain. Probably
any good plug will do. Hope this helps.
