OK, already someone (carbon02) already sent me a link where I found this pic:

What was confusing me was the terminals labeled 7 and 8 in "View A." Looks like one is for the starter and one is a ground - totally what I suspected but was too chicken to try. Now can't wait to get home and start spinning wrenches again.
