Alright so I went to drive my car a few hours ago and cut on the head lights and blam I realized I had no dash lights, they we're working fine yesterday. So I started checking fuses and my illumination fuse and cigerette lighter fuse was blown. I changed them both. Tried to turn on my head lights still no dash lights, checked the fuse again and the illumination fuse was blown.

3 fuses later I decided to go from 5amp to 10amp just to see if it would work I know its not recommended but the 10amp blew just as soon as I turned it on. Tried a 20 just to see what would happen and it blew also. I tried a 50amp and it stayed on but I took it out because I knew taht was a huge fuse when it only required a 5amp.

The only thing different from today and the other day is I had a friend (whose a certified installer) install some crossovers in my doors and change out the door speakers. He then ran some RCA cables to my trunk and a wire from the drivers side door crossover to the trunk so he could finish tomorrow when he installs my amp and subs. The wires aren't stripped in the trunk and they aren't touching any metal.

I decided to check all of my fuses to see if any others we're blown that could be related and none we're. I didn't check under the hood fuses. I started the car and had an engine code pulled out my code scanner and it was a P1633 I read that it means "keep alive memory voltage too low." Could these 2 be related or is it beacuse I pulled all the fuses under my dash and the car has to relearn something?

I thought I'd break it into 2 posts since it was a little on the long side hope no one minds.

Are there any fuses under the hood that could cause this problem. The radio was already installed for a while and I don't think any of the wires behind it could be touching since the radio works fine but I'll double check tomorrow.

I do a lot of night driving and I need my dash lights. I'm hoping the code isn't anything big. Hopefully tomorrow I can put a fuse in and it'll fix itself randomly. I'm going to put another fuse in now but I won't try the tail lights again until tomorrow night. If my flash light didn't die I would be out there following every wire possible until I hopefully found an obviously grounded out wire. I don't think it will randomly fix itself and if it did it would just drive me crazy for a while. I'm also about to to unplug the cables he just put in and see if that had anything to do with the problem but first a walk to the store for some AA batteries lol.

Through google I actually found someone with the same problem but instead he had the same code and his AC fuse kept blowing. He never replied if he found the answer so I'm hoping someone can help me out. Now I'm off to get some AA batteries.

P.S. Its the car in my signature 2003 Ford Mustang GT 5spd 79k all stock. I haven't had a serious problem with it before this.

Ok I noticed when I used my alarm to unlock my car that the dash lights still didn't light up. I unhooked the rca cables from the back of my deck and I went in the trunk and electrical taped all of the loose wires even though they weren't stripped I thought maybe that little tip that was showing may have been touching something in the trunk. ( I have no carpet in my trunk) Then I checked the fuses under the hood with my Ohm meter they we're all good. I then decided to clean the battery terminals because of the code about low memory power I didn't know if it would fix it but hey regardless the terminals should be clean.

Then I put the fuse in and closed the door. I didn't try to turn on the lights because it was my last fuse and I was gonna wait until I got some more before I started blowing more fuses. When I closed my door and set my alarm I saw the dash light up. Hopefully it is a sign that the problem is fixed I'll find out after I goto the store tomorrow to get more fuses.

Sorry for posting 3 times in a row. I'm not doing it to up my post count or anything I'm just trying to leave a little journal of what I've done so far to try and find the problem.

O I also followed what wires I could from under the fuse holder under the dash until they we're out of reach all but one seemed fine. I'll be changing that connector tomorrow regardless.
