A few good kills.

Now that I know what this forum is for I will put a couple kills in here.

1. The 65' Cuda.

Back when I lived in Colorado I used to cruise main just to see what was out and driving around. As I am sitting at the light a punk with a bunch of girls in his car pulls up next to me. I pay no mind being what he was driving. Then he revs up his engine like he has something to prove. Well he is driving a late 80s early 90's Mercury Cougar or Thunderbird, same car. It looked like it was in good shape cosmetically. The engine was most likely a V8 from the sound of it. He had an exhaust and ground effects on his car.

I was driving my 65' Plymouth Cuda. I told him that I wasn't going to waste the gas. Because I know I could kill him. The light turns green and he tears off the line I take off like I usually do not even trying.

Later he finds me at the “hoods up” club and starts making fun of me for losing. I then explained in order to loose I would have had to be racing, which I wasn't. Well I am getting tired of this punk and I don't want to race him on main because of the cops, and the Cuda isn't a quite car either. So I tell him to follow me to a cop free area, a long straight back road.

We get there and I do a small burn to warm the tires. The light turns red and we pull up. Even though I know I can kill this guy my adrenaline is pumping. We both bring up the RPMs and the light turns green. I drop the hammer and take off like a shot leaving him in the dust. I was more than a little perturbed that he ragged on me in front of those people so I kept on going to the end of the two mile long stretch. I even slowed down half way to let him catch up and then I dropped it down to second and shot off again. It was an easy kill, but it felt good to streach out the old Cuda.

2. The 89' LeBaron.

I love this car because it is such a great sleeper. Nobody expects is to have any guts under the hood. Anyhow here in Utah I spend the weekends with friends of mine that go to BYU. Well I head home from there at about 11:00 P.M.

As I am headed down state street; which is three lane the entire way. I get to a red light. I am in the far right lane. And a girl in a Honda Prelude pulls up in the middle lane and she seems to be in a hurry since she is bothering me with revving the engine. The car was not in the best of shape. In the left lane an older Supra pulls up and in very nice shape. I had no idea what either were running, but I had no doubts about the Prelude but that Supra had me wondering, does he have the twin turbo.

By now were are all revving up our engines. I get up to about 4000 RPM and the light turns green. So I dump the clutch and take off. The supra and I left the Prelude behind without a problem, though I was walking away from the Supra at a good rate. The next light was still green so we kept going. I was up to about 85 in fourth and still walking away. I figured I proved my point shut her down before I got a ticket. Good run though. He must have not had a TT.

3. The 89' LeBaron.

Headed to work on the freeway I usually do about 75-80. Today that just wasn't fast enough for this guy. He was right on my ass in an Eclipse. I move out of the way to let him go by. It is lowered and has a pipe on the back big enough to fit my head into. As he pulls past I see that it is a GSX. Well instead of passing he stays right next to me. After a few min of this it is pretty clear what he wants so I gave it to him. I drop to fourth and take off; he tries to keep up but he didn’t have enough. I let off and he keeps coming so I figure I am going to loose this guy. Drop it to fourth again and take off, get up to about 85 or so then I shift to fifth. I get to the point where the speedo is buried and I am running at about 4200 RPMs I figure this is faster than I want to go and with him way in my rearview I cut it and exit.

I never knew the Lebaron to be a fast car :)! Truely is a sleeper then - I always thought they were a glorified K-Car (no-offense).

As for the Cougar/Tbird - it's stock time would be about 16.5 in the 1/4 if it had a 302. Not hardly enough to kill a Cuda :). Kid probably thought extra plastic made his car faster :D! You want Extra HP? Add on chrome - for every sq. in. of chrome you get 1 hp ;)....

Ya' all the LeBarons were built on the K frame. So really it is a K-Car. :)
Oh well, with the LeBarons most were just that, slow. But the GTCs were the sleepers.

If you picked a five speed manual you got a 2.2L I-4 with an intercooled Garret T-04 turbo. Stock the turbo will pump out 13 pounds, if you chip it, the turbo will pump out around 20.

If you got the 4 speed auto you got the 2.5L I-4 with a non intercooled turbo. They were much slower than the five speed. Min of course is the five speed, which are quite rare.
