02 ac filter reset

On my wifes 02 LS the reset feature for the AC filter is not working. Everything else will reset I have performed the function several times. But the next time you turn the key is turned on the message come up that AC filter requires change. Have tried disconnecting the battery no luck is there a master reset. there is 100k + on the car.

Are you getting an indication that the filter life has been reset to 100% prior to exiting the menu? Are you running through the steps in the owner's manual on pages 97 and 98 (https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owners_manuals/default.asp)?

yes i am running the reset procedures as per the manual. When you hold the button in to reset it does not give the indication reset to 100%. It exits the program. Then when you run a status check or turn the ignition off then back on it gives the old status of AC filter requires change.

Have you ever been successful in resetting the AC Filter warning? I realize this isn't a feature the trips very often, so you may have never had the need to reset it before.

It seems that if you know you are doing the process correctly and per the steps in the owner's manual, the culprit would be the switch. However, you stated that all the other features reset correctly, so that shouldn't be the case.

It might be time for you to stop by the dealer and have them see if it's doing what it's supposed to. I wouldn't think they charge you much to show you how it's supposed to work, maybe just a $5 tip to a helpful technician.

I don't find any hints or tips in the Factory Service Manual. I find the wiring diagram for the switches and the mechanical steps to change the filter, but nothing suggesting there is a reset procedure.
