problems with trannies?

first, i know everyone is going to say get manual, but its not very practical where i live.

what are the different things that can go wrong with manual or a/t tranny's? im thinking about longevity without problems. im leaning towards an a/t with a levelten shiftkit, for three reasons. easier to drive in the busy city life, motor/tranny is cheaper to buy and installation is cheaper since i dont need a manual conversion.

so basically, what are some of the more common repairs to each of the transmissions, and costs if you know any?

well since we are talking about honda trannies here:

the differential has brass gears and can be damaged very easily. my at already has differential problems and i get traction only on the passager wheel.

the AT has a very weak rear engine mount which is causing a lot of engine movement during shifts and eventually will end up ripping apart thetorque mount from the chassis.

the manual tranny has the same brass gears in the differential

and the clutch might be going to heavens. other than that i really don't see any problems with both of the accord trannies.

Stick is more fun, lots more fun but if you live in a city like LA, Chicago, NY i'd definitely keep it AT.

true, thanks for the info. i live in san jose, heart of the silicon valley for all you computer nerds:cool: its not LA, but theres always stop-n-go traffic. and yea i know stick is more fun, but i wanna keep this car for all of my young adult life, and i think the coolness will wear off. and of course, with the shiftronic i can adjust shift firmness, shift points and take off the speed/rev limiter
