Just replaced the rack and pinion two weeks ago. Now I have a transmission fluid leak. I am assuming I broke or pinched a line when I dropped the subframe. I assume it's either the speedometer sensor (VSS), transmission fluid filler tube where it attaches to the transmission, or perhaps the transmission fluid line coming from the cooler. Anyone have any other ideas before I get back under there and drop the subframe again? I guess I have to drop it to get to all 3 possible leak points?? Any help is appreciated!!

You'll have to look underneath and narrow down the approximate location of the leak.

I have an AX4N transmission.

I ended up dropping the subframe. The two lines for the transmission cooler are fine - dry as a bone. The seal for the filler tube is sitting on my desk - going to order one in a few minutes. Not sure if it is the culprit, but it could be. I never could find the VSS. the book states that it is located behind the alternator. The book also says that I need to take the crankshaft pulley off to get to it!!! I hope that is not the case. With the wheels off and the car on jackstands (before I dropped the subframe, I ran the engine through the gears - did not see a leak. I guess I'm going to replace the filler tube seal and see what happens....
