That code is "secondary air injection system incorrect flow" Does anyone know if that would be covered under the drivetrain warranty on an 2008 Grand Prix? If not does anyone know what to check to find the problem. Thanks.

They may be covered under the emissions warranty. It would be worth a call to the dealer to get a first hand yes or no.

I agree, most any emissions related codes/problems should be covered under your new car warranty.

My warranty was 3 year or 36,000 which expired 100 miles ago. Anyway, I removed the air solinoid (I think thats what its called) the air pump sends air to it and it sends the air to the exhaust manifold, anyway I took it apart. It was corroded and had water in it.(condensation I guess) I sprayed WD 40 in it and took a pair of pliers and worked the plunger free. Sprayed some more WD 40 in it and then blew it out with the air compressor then reinstalled it. I erased the code with my scanner and the check engine light never came on again. I live in AZ where its dry most of the time. People that live where its humid and freezes mut have to replace that part constantly because the water would freeze and totally destroy that part.
Now I'm told that the Fed Gov has mandated a 5 year warranty on all emission parts. I dont know how true it is, but thats the way it should be.

The federal emissions warranty is much longer than 3/36. That packet in the glove box that has all those booklets and the owners manual will give you the exact emissions warranty that the manufacturer will give you. Some just have the minimum allowed and others have extended them to over 100k miles, Just depends on the manufacturer/vehicle/problem/.

my brother in law has the extended warrenty on his 08 grand prix and they told him its not covered so im now looking into replacing the AIR solenoid to fix the problem. I dont think the cat would be a problem on a car with under 40k miles and 2 years old would it?
