What i've been up to with no ride

Since I have no bike at the moment, I've gotten into mountain bike riding.

Taking my Specialized Stumpjumper out and getting thrills in the bush.

I had an accident on a building site last week and tore the muscle from my elbow as well as damaged ligaments, tendon and nerve. didn't break the bone but tore the crap outta everything else. So with pretty much no movement in my arm, no bike riding for me. I was on MTB forums and came across a thread about re-building old school BMX's. As I had the same brand bike, I was inspired by the work this guy put in.

I then saw this whole Vintage BMX scene and guys restoring old bike to their former glory.

Then as fate would have it, I'm in a bike shop picking up a mates Scott Genius (the burden of having a ute!) and saw a Kuwahara frame almost identical to the bike I had in 1985.

So then i start trawling Ebay and BMX Museum to see the availability of parts.

Here's a link to what I have got up to in the last week.

I know it doesn't have a motor but its a bike :runaround:

that sounds dirty, :naughty:

Sorry to hear about your injury Blayne, I hope you heal up quick. I had the same thing happen to me, broke my arm just below the elbow. The ulna (which is the forearm bone on the pinky side) snapped about an inch below the elbow joint, and took the tip of the radius with it. After 2 surgeries including installing a 6" plate and nine screws, 6 months of rehab, and learning to do many fun things (<---read wiping your behind) left handed, I'm back to about 90% of what I was before. The funny thing about it is I've owned/ridden every form of 2 wheeled vehicle my entire life and never got hurt on anything motorized, but I get hurt on a bicycle...WTF!!!

Vehicles without motors are evil. They have self esteem issues, and seek to hurt you for compensation.

Never been hurt in a car crash. Never had a motorcycle crash. Screwed myself all to hell on bicycles though....?

I wish I'd have gotten copies of my x-rays from the hospital, I'd post them to show how well gravity works.

I couldn't believe how many people asked me if I was going to sue the park I was riding in at the time. How could the park be liable for me falling down? I guess it's our lovely society at work there. Again, people are idiots!
