Removing rear reflector

Not sure if that’s what it’s called, but I’m trying to remove it to paint it. Problem is, there is a latch holding it on. It looks like it would slide right off, but its not happening. Any tips on removal? Should I just snap it? If I do will there be much (if any) rattling when I put it back on?

Looks good. Didn’t you post a how-to on how you did it? I can’t seem to find it. Also I'm looking to paint it white. Any idea on what kind of paint I should use for it?

DO NOT PULL HARD ON THE PIECE, YOU WILL SNAP IT! I HAVE DONE IT. THE TAB IN THE CENTER THAT IS HOLDING IT IN IS A FUCKING BITCH, AND I HAVE FOUND THE BEST WAY TO DO IT IS TO GET A GOOD SET OF NEEDLENOSE PLYERS AND SQUEEZE THE SIDES OF IT. ALSO TRY TURNING THE TAB 90 DEGREES.
I REPEAT DO NOT PULL HARD, YOU WILL SNAP IT RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE!!!!!!
i snapped mine. $100 bucks or something for a new OEM one from Majestic Honda. I pulled mine off cuz the damn seal was leaking. Oh well, new gaskets came with the new one so that problem is fixed. now it leaks somewhere around where the bumper is attached below the trunk line. water pools at the bottom of my spare tire well on top of my dynamat.

i know on my rex, there is a few nuts holding it on behind those removable plastic covers, after that i just tilt it upwards and it comes right off, but it may be different for your car.

Here's a how to (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?postid=623054#post623054)
As far as paint I have no idea ... but lemme reccomend picking up a centerpiece from an STD hatch to paint, and selling your SI centerpiece (assuming you can get it off), because you will make some money on the deal, there are a lot of people who want the reflective red.
Here is a pic of the STD center in case you dont know what to look for.

Take off the plastic panel on the hatch, there is a big hole on the back, stick your hand with some pilars in it and undo it from the back. Not that hard. I did it in the pitch dark at night.
