I need some advice! I have to replace the high pressure hose. I noticed where the pressure line hex fitting screws into the steering gear is hard to get at. I've manged to get a wrench on it. Is there an easier way to approach this? I was thinking about trying a crowfoot wrench w/ the 3/8" drive instead of the the box wrench. The fitting is on pretty tight. I'm assuming it's a standard right hand thread. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum sonicbrew. You didn't say if you have a 3.8L or 4.6L engine. First thing is to disconnect the battery ground cable and then the steering gear mounting bolts so you can lower rack to gain access to the hose fittings. On a 4.6L, you will have to disconnect the steering column intermediate shaft coupling in order to lower the rack.

I have the 4.6 L V8. I've already disconnected the hose at the pump. I just have to disconnnect the high pressure hose at the pressure line inlet tube (the section that goes to the rack and pinion). The problem is, it's pretty corroded. I don't want to replace the inlet tube if I don't have to, which would mean dropping the rack like you mentioned.
