I was searching for some kits on Hobby Search and found this:
http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10088621
It's the new Nissan 370Z (Z34) with serial number 24315, I personally never liked them but it's great news from Tamiya. I guess Tamiya decided to release the Z before the Altima :D

Yeah, great to see Tamiya still producing a 1/24 scale car in something really exciting. NOT! Who really cares about the new Z. I hope it doesn't sell well and teaches them a lesson. My two cents!

I do care about new Z. I don't understand - we complain when Tamiya doesn't make anything new, and then when they announce a new kit, you complain that they going to make it? WTF?

Certainly there are people interested in the new Z, and it is a nice car (I saw one this weekend), but there are many more cars out there that aren't being produced and would excite many more builders. I will not name any, but if you were to take a poll of everyone on automotiveforums, and take the top ten cars, I bet you the new Z wouldn't be on the top of the list.
Tamiya producing one, uninteresting car a year, in my mind equates to them not producing any new cars at all, in effect. I just write off their offering and pay attention to Fujimi and Revell's release.
Do we really need a $50 kit of the new Z. Come on...its only a smidge more exciting than their upcoming Altima release. Too each his own! :)

Uh, one look at the new 370Z and I was in love :sunglasse
I certainly care. It's a stellar improvement over the 350Z. Nobody said a Z car is to appeal to everyone. I love many cars that elicit polarizing views of styling.
If you don't understand, so what? Plenty of others will understand. Nissan did an outstanding job on the new Z car. I spent many miles driving/riding in a 350Z Track Edition, since replaced by a Cayman S. I can see why Nissan chose the Cayman as the benchmark, as the Cayman S is such an improvement over a 350Z. I hated the 350Z when it first was shown, concept and production. Seeing the car in real life I changed my tune quickly. And Nissan went and did just the right kind of upgrade to the next
Pictures don't do a 370Z any justice, in person and out on the road it's a real head-turner.
I'm glad Tamiya is doing the kit. It'll be expensive, but I'll be first in line to buy and build it. I'd certainly enjoy owning the 1:1.
I'd rather the kit be by Fujimi, based solely on comparison of GTR kits. More kit, less $$ is always good.

Now, the discussion to follow is that whether it'll have diecast under carriage or not :D But, judging from the price, I would guess that engine top would be included.

The 370Z kit is cheaper than Tamiya's R35 GT-R kit by 400 yen (before sales tax). The kit will have two dashboards for LHD and RHD, and I think it will include the usual foil transfer and pre-cut masking tapes, but probably no engine details.

I've been around for plenty of "What do you want in scale" threads and "Top ten kit wishlist" threads, and never EVER is there are a car on more than one or two lists*. Everyone has very disparate views on what should be in scale. That said, while the 370Z won't make many top-ten lists (it wouldn't have made mine) it would probably make many people's stashes (it'll probably make mine).
The Z is a no-brainer. It's very tunable - lots of people will get one to modify and "tune" in scale. It's Japanese - Tamiya is Japanese (and I believe the whole Z line is well loved in Japan, not unlike the GT-Rs). It's a new car - something new and relevant has wider appeal. And it's pretty cool - you can't say it's not a cool car, can you?
Anyway, long story short, I also think it's silly that we try to second guess model companies. They're all trying to make money, some trying to make more than others, and a widely known, widely liked car will probably sell more than a one that isn't. Yay for Tamiya.
*Excepting of course the McLaren F1

Tamiya wised up, Aoshima-wise, to the kit design for the 370, notice the separate fascias and skirts. I'd say they'll be doing a NISMO variant next.
It would be silly for Tamiya NOT to do the 370Z. The Z car lineup through history is iconic. And they are quite eye-catching on the street, I've seen quite a few already.

Based on photos, or seeing them in the wild? I wasn't wild about the 350 until I saw them in person, hated the concept. Wasn't wild about the 370 either, but that was in photos, in person, to my taste, it looks awesome.
The only modern car I ended up still disliking a LOT after seeing it in person was the Ferrari California. In fact it's worse than I thought. Talk about ugly! I'd drive a 370Z long before that overpriced ugly trinket that looks like a Lexus reject.

^ The 370Z looks way better in person compared to photos. It's one of those cars where you have to see it in person. I personally like it and I almost ended up buying one couple weeks back, but I wised up and didn't go with it. As for the Ferrari California, I agree, what was Ferrari thinking? I rather get a Nissan GT-R V-Spec or Audi R8 V10. Same price range, why not?
Tamiya will make this car because Tamiya has been making Fairlady Zs since the Z first came out. It would be unwise for them not to make this new 370z. I hope Aoshima makes a tuner version soon. I'm still waiting for the darn Evo X to come in.

That's interesting. The guys on FerrariChat seem to like it better in person. At least its universally regarded as a great driving car. I like the design, although I'm sure its rump could've been better. I'm looking forward to Revell's release of the California, flaws and all, unlike Tamiya's 370.
With the California, I have one new model this year that I'm excited about and will build (albeit in my imagination, as it seems the kits are stacking up in the closet)

The California is the best of Ferraris current line. The fit and finish of it is amazing. The best car built in Maranello I have seen in a long time. Looks amazing in person, and is by far the most comfortable current Ferrari. I cannot wait for the Revell kit.

I was seriously hoping I'd like it better in person, sadly that didn't happen. Therefore no Revell kit for me. My last vision of the California was in a showroom facing a 16M. I'm sure the 16M is double the cost of a California, but it's 10,000 times more desirable to me. I'll let the real market for the California decide whether it's worthy or not. I'm sure the performance is great. I disliked the 360, 599, 612 in photos, but "got it" when seen in person. This one, no. There's an awful lot of similar threads on Fchat both berating and praising the car. I hope that buyers aren't treated to the horrific resale value that I predict this car will have once the badge snobs are ready for their next toy.

You know the whole "370z not coming with an engine" is an easy fix. All you need is one part 370z and one part GT-R35, gently stir, and.......:naughty:

Ooooh. A 480hp Z - wonder how getting that power to the ground would work in rwd. Better not let Nissan's Team GT-R hear about that - to hear some magazines tell it, they may come grenade your model, their rivalry with the Fairlady/Z team is so intense... :grinyes:
Yeah, I'm gettin' the Revell Californias too - though I really don't think I'd forgive that styling from anyone except Maranello.
Hmeh. Surely there's a MILF or two among them pentagenarian house brokers...
