My better half had to have her car towed this morning. Went to the store , shut the car off and when returned the ignition lights came on, and the security light is flashing on the dash. The car will not start. No starter, seems the ignition resets when the key is released. Also the door locks failed to operate. Is this a passlock problem? All other functions of the car are good.

Where do I start and can the passlock security be bypassed to get it running?

Thanks for your input....

so no signs of cranking at all? how old is the battery? Check your battery voltage.

check engine light is probably not on, what you see is the bulb test for 3 sec.

Battery is fine. AFTER the self test the security light is flashing and the check engine light burns steady. The ignition goes off when the key goes to start.

1.attempt to start the engine
2. leave the key in the run position for 12min
3. after 12min theft light should stop flashing

If it does it again, do the steps X3 before actualy starting it. ;)

Oh and I wouldnt realy blame it on the BCM. Its more likly your ignition switch is goin out. :2cents:

Thank you all:

I have the correct proceedures:

Try to start the car.
Leave the ignition switch on for 12 to 15 mins.
Look to see if the Security light is out in the message center.
You should see the battery light on in the message center.
Turn the ignition OFF and REMOVE THE KEY.
Put the key in the Ignition and start the car.
