Proper diagnosis needed, Beretta with coolant leak

My son owns a '96 beretta 3.1l. The car has been 'using' coolant on a regular basis. This morning I noticed a large puddle of coolant on the driveway. I could hear air and see coolant leaking from behind the the power steering reservoir when I rapidly squeezed the large radiator hose. I had noticed some milky residue on the underside of radiator cap when changing oil, but no milkiness or strange color on the dipstick or in the radiator fluid. From what I've been able to research it could be a few things, but probably an intake or head gasket. I'd like to narrow down the problem before I start to understand if it's worth the trouble or not. It's been a great rust free car to this point, with about 105k miles on it. Can anyone properly diagnose this with the info provided? Thanks.

It's most likely the lower intake gaskets from what you're describing. The OEM plastic gaskets crack around the coolant transfer ports at the ends of the cylinder heads.

Thanks, I was hoping it might be just a cover gasket. Started to dsimantle......wow! Not enough room to get the alternator bracket out or power steering pump bracket. Looks like I need to bend a 13mm to get the coil pack bracket off as well! I think I may have to raise the motor a bit to get everything off.

Get the stuff off in front of leak and find out for sure where it is leaking before tearing it all of the way down.

They make wobble sockets for the angled stuff.
Good Luck

PROBLEM SOLVED. It turns out the issue was the front (timing) cover gasket. I was able to track it down after removing the power steering pump and using my air compressor (low psi) to locate the leak. Still quite a job having to remove engine mount, harmonic balancer, etc. The gasket set was only $7 at NAPA (5/2009) and don't forget to use black RTV sealant on bolts and harmonic balancer key. Spend the extra time needed to thoroughly clean the mating surfaces, and torque properly. Tools? aside from regular stuff you will need a torque wrench and harmonic balancer puller but the installer is optional. I placed my HB in boiling water for about 15 mins and use a brass hammer to install. I did not replace the oil seal even though one is included in the kit. Car works fine now, if it fails in short order, I'll come back and post. Thanks for all the suggestions and comments.
