White metal parts question

I have polished some White metal parts which will be quite visibleb on the completed model and I am wondering if the metal will tarnish over time?

Any experience with this? Is there anything I can coat it with to prevent this and keep the shine? Future polish perhaps?

interesting, quite a while ago i got that situation also.
From my point of view you would have to keep the area absolutely dry and watch out for clamminess! It would be interesting to know if and with which materials the surface could be sealed (of course it also depends on how one will have it to be, flat or glossy)
I made the experience that if you leave the surface dry and as it is nothing bad should happen except it will become more and more dull bit by bit!
By the way, are there great differences in the syncrises of white metal?
Maybe various manufactorers use various configurations and therefor you may have various results and appearances!?

Steve, you will know that I have some models STILL in progress :D, some metal parts I polished ages ago, also polished until mirror, are still shine and free from any oxidation.
BTW I ever heard the advice from the 1/43 master I met to seal bare white metal with clear: any crap that will preserve the metal from mist and air would work I guess, my partner Ricky uses TS13 if I remember right, just a thiny layer.
On my side, like I wrote, I left bare metal, but all parts are closed in boxes :D

I've tried TS-13 and MM sealer and both turned the polished part grey. For now I just leave it polished and hope it lasts. I'm glad someone asked this question...

Late reply probably but today I used a Gunze White Metal Primer (transparent, in jar) over the seamed roll cage of my 575GTC prior the alu application: white metal was well polished ad mirror face PE parts was seamed with solder and ciano: I remembered I used it on alu turned parts, to coat then with transparent colors: well Gunze WMP not only do not switch part to grey (like happen also trying to coat Chromed parts, they loose shine) but it increase the shining, ever with a "metal taste" :D

Don't know if it helps but last week end during a visit to the neighboring OBI Markt I saw a Sonnax automotive product for polishing and protecting chrome and metal parts.
It didn't look like a paint, rather some kind of wax.
