Has anybody had a hitch installed at BMW dealer? What was the cost? Are there alternatives that are good and not as expensive? A nice fit is important to me.

I purchased mine at the dealer and installed it myself. I think the cost was over $400 for the hitch but it is really strong and well made. Some people complain about the cost, I say do it right the first time rather than the second time.

I have towed a boat (about 3600 pounds), a 6 x 12 U haul trailer and a U haul car transport with a 3 series bmw on it.

So far so good.
