1972 Dodge Pick Up

Hi i have a 1972 Dodge Pick Up with 360 engine. truck would not start the other day so a friend of mine said it was starter relay. I went out and bought one. My buddy put it in problem now when you hook up battery cables truck will crank over even though there is no key in ignition any ideas Stumped here!!!!

New relay shorted internally.
