I'm hoping someone in here has the answer I'm looking for and that is whether or not a 5spd manual can be mated to the series II 3800(l67)...Getrag 284 or maybe an F23. I have a 284 at my disposal if I want it but I'm unsure whether it will work with my 98 GTP. I saw a couple years ago on cardomain a guy put a 284 with his series I in his Reatta(he also put an eaton on it...F'n sweet). If anyone has any knowledge of this...any info would be greatly appreciated.

No Knowledge from me...

I can point you to this site. He is looking for "ginea pigs" who want a manual installed into their 3800.

I'm pretty sure there's only one guy with a manual trans in his GP (6 speed atleast). He just finished it not too long ago.

theres a guy over on club GP that was doing one it his GTP...havent checked in lately on the progress.

Milzy Motorsports $4K for a 6 speed swap, wow...pretty steep.

your best bet would be to talk to the Fiero guys...i see them things with L67's in em' and if Im not mistaking pretty sure with a stick in it...

GM never offered a manual FWD transaxle behind the 3800 (N/A or Supercharged) because none of their available manual transaxles would handle the torque without extensive strengthening. The bean counters running GM didn't see enough of a demand to warrant the uprading needed, so it wasn't offered. As an example of demand, the 88-91 GP's had a manual gearbox offered with the 3.1 and 3.4 DOHC V-6's(as these engines didn't produce the torque the 3800 does), but very few were ordered or produced. I agree that a 5 or 6 speed manual gearbox would be awesome.
