99 GTP 130K miles, I will probably be doing an engine rebuild (see my "injector seats" post) through zzp with cnc ported heads, xp hot cam, 105# springs . . . I have s3 IC, ported blower with 3.4" pulley and such . . . my end goal is modest so to speak 300-340 hp range daily driver. As I've been researching everything, I realized that I only have an approx. 2.25" exhaust from having the Y-piece back to the v-3, v-force mufflers installed back in 2006. While I'm thinking things would be best with a high flow cat at 2.5" (bnaylor always has good advice!:sunglasse) I'm stuck on the deciding factors of getting headers vs ported power log and rear manifold other than the obvious cost difference. Even zzp told me that headers would be overkill, but that was when considering a budget. So what are the more important things (as if money isn't important enough) to consider when talking headers and exhaust?

The best exhaust mod for a modified L67 engine is headers. Although expensive you'll get a notable increase in hp and much better mid to high rpm operation. The proof will be at the track. :grinyes: I'm surprised you didn't install headers before the IC mod.

So headers....yes!

I have to agree with Bob. Cheapest mod for the horsepower you get and will increase the effectiveness of the other mods!

ZZP said headers would be overkill? Even completely stock headers wouldn't be "overkill".. As cheap as headers are now, there's no reason not to get them if you are looking to mod your car.

I personally love headers. I want to get some for my 86 brougham but they are hard as hell to find for my 4.3 v6. Any suggestions on where I can find headers for my car. It is used for a daily commuter.
