If driving in cold weather, the car drives great. In warm or hot weather I have a major problem. Once the car gets warm (approx. 30-45 min) it will die. First the rpms go 500 o 1000 higher then all of a sudden the rpms drop to zero and will not recover. I have to pull over, turn it off, wait 30 seconds & it will re-start. BUT it will continue to do this until the car has a chance to completely cool off.
What is my problem & what will it cost me???

i have a similar problem with my buick park avenue 1994, but not exactly the same.
mine will start up just fine in the morning, no problem. when I drive it in the afternoon/night time it gets hot and if I shut it off to go to the gas station or even stop somewhere for 20 minutes, it might not start because it is hot. If I come back in a couple hours, it fires right up.
Got a brand new battery, radio lights indoor lights all work fine when the problem is occuring. It acts like it wants to start, then just doesnt fire up, if i keep the ignition turned it just tries to start up but doesnt.... rrrrruh...pause... rrruh.... pause....rrruh... just wont fire up!!!
any ideas? anyone?

Crank Position Sensor (CKPS) & Ignition Control Module (ICM) are both heat sensitive. I would start with the CKPS!
