2005 trailblazer starting issues

Sometimes when starting the clock is reset to 12:00. A few times it has failed to even crank, wait a min. and try again and it starts. Im thinking the starter silanoid might be the problem. Any info on this would be appriceated

Welcome to AF, usual suspects here are the ground and battery cables, loose or corroded.

there is not any corosion, all wires are clean and all conections are tight. the battry is 3 years old but it is not slow cranking or any thing like that.

When it won't crank look for voltage to the starter solenoid, look at the grounds on the block/frame not just the battery.

Recheck your battery connection and also check the condition of the cable at the battery. The side post cables will go open where the wire and cable end meet. I had a similar problem with the 02 and thought I had a starter or battery issue. It was the cable and it looked great from the outside. It had internal corrosion that couldn't be seen...
