Help, beretta just dies

HI, I am new, have a 1989 chevy beretta 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder with fuel injection, not EFI. Was just driving down the road at 55 and it just died, could not restart it it does crank over. There was no spark when I check the plugs. Let it sit overnight it restarts and idles rough for about 3 min then dies again, will not restart for many hours or overnight. Were to start on this?

Crank sensor or ign module are the usual culprits. Get a scanner on it and look for cranking rpms, if none suspect the cps. Component locations and test procedures are at autozone.com, repair guides.

Is the crank position sensor/ignition modual hard to get at? Is this a problem that is intermitent like what I have?

The igniton module can be intermitent, usually starts with hard starts, random stalling until it fails. Usually when they get hot they act up also. The crank sensor usally fails and that is it. You can remove the coil pack/module assembly and have the module tested at Advance/NAPA/Autozone for free. it is a flat module, sits under the coils.

Tough place to get to, I believe it is at the rear lower area of the block. The cps is right under the icm in that area.

It's on the back side of the block (between the block and firewall) three wires go to it. Its about in the middle of the block, about two inch's up...
