Damm i couldnt believe all the dirt that came off it, holy fuck . Anyways I used the k&n cleaning kit,. So how often do you guys clean your filters? I was thinking cleaning it every oil change (3500km) ???

Would that be cleaning your air filter, or your intake? If the air filter, I think the recommended servicing of a K&N filter is 18 months, or at least 1 year. For my intake, I clean it every 5000km, or that's every regular check-up at a Honda service center.

the filter at the end off the intake, thats the one im talking about,.If thats the one youre talking about theres no way i could wait that long to clean it, ive had this on for like a month and it was really dirty.

For it to get that dirty that quick? weird... no big deal though... its best to keep washing it... less restriction :-) but make sure it dries everytime!:bloated:

Actually, it depends on how dirty it is, and what's the actual recommended servicing time. If you use your car for normal street use only, I am not sure it will get as dirty as, say, one which uses it for race or for off-road. Normal car use would mean servicing your filter as prescribed by the manufacturer. Servicing the air filter often might actually damage the filter more than help you.

If you're talking about a K&N open filter, dirt is actually GOOD for it. Cleaning it every month will shorten its lifespan. For a CAI, I would wait AT LEAST 6 months before cleaning it. Unless it is caked y'know. For a regular RAM intake like mine, once a year max. Like it was said above, reccommended is once every 18 months. I've had mine since last Summer and havn't so much as picked the bugs out of it and it runs just as well if not better than it did when I got it. (ok so I pick the bugs out :p)
But I read in the K&N manual that dirt and stuff actually helps the filter. Whatever you do though, if you clean it, make SURE you re-oil it or you will kill it.
