Loss of idle ...die out...idle control sensor?

Last week during rain storm engine began to die-out at stoplights. Car ran fine at speed but as approaching or at a stop usually with brake depressed car would die-out. We believe it was just a coincidence and not related to moisture or driving rain storm.

This is intermittent as not all the time it would occur. Trying to see if related to cold or hot engine & have seen no relation. Dies consistently when it is in this mode otherwise it can run without a problem. But then die-out when restart and continue to die-out. This happens whether upon initial start-up cold or when driving for an hour.

Friendly neighborhood car repair suggested throttle body (plenum) cleaning as well as fuel injection cleaning kit.

My regular mechanic ruled out fuel pressure or pump/injector problem as car holds pressure and runs otherwise. Even though it looked pretty darn clean, a quick cleaning of the throttle body was done.

All vacuum hoses intact and tested.

Started looking at the throttle position sensor as possible culprit. Repair manual indicates voltage of the idle position switch to be at 4V. We came up with 2.

Opened it up and operation of the plunger was pretty good but lubed lightly to make sure it is worked freely. Took spring out to alleviate full pressure to stay closed. No change in operation.

Any other ideas?
Is there any other components to test that we may of missed?
Possibly an electrical power supply to the switch?
This part is expensive to buy for testing purposes, ~$400 retail.

Thanks for your help.

sounds like u might just need to to adjust the idle higher, if ur cars a 3s then they gradually do down over time, at least the ones ive seen. if not its prolly the ips

Buy an IAC off of Ebay. DSM ones work too.

Yep, it was idle control. Got one off of ebay to test & it worked perfect.
