1997 2.2 fuel problems

I have a 1997 Chevy S10 with a 2.2 liter engine. I noticed when I checked my oil a few days ago that the oil was very thin and realized that it had gas in it. About a week ago I noticed that it was kind of hard to start like the battery was weak. I think that it is a leaking fuel injector. I changed the o rings on the injectors hoping that it would fix it but it didn't. There is no smoke coming from my exhaust and my engine doesn't miss at all. What could my problem be.

gas could be making its way past the rings and into the oil. i believe but am not 100% positive these engines had a valve seat problem sometimes that allowed excess gas to run into the cylinder after the engine had been shut off.

Unless the injectors are somehow pulsing when the truck is off (meaning they can't) there is no way possible for this to happen.

I'm gonna have to guess that you just plain left the oil in far too long and it was very broken down. I can't even think of a scenario where gas could leak down into the crankcase other than a cylinder not firing and that would be a very obvious problem.

I changed the oil and drove it for about 20 minutes and when I checked the oil there was still a distinct smell of gas and it was very thin. Could the injector be leaking over night because it is hard to start in the mornings after I drive it the day before like it is flooded. Sometimes you have to give it a little gas to start it.

While I would expect a leaking injector to cause driveability issues, try running a leakdown test.Try pinching off the return line if possible. Then turn the key to run but don't try start it. Once you get full pressure turn the key off and watch how long it takes for the pressure to drop. It should hold 80%+ pressure for atleast 10 minutes I would assume.

Since you said you changed the fuel injector O-rings, why don't you check the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose for gas getting sucked into the intake? That would be the most likely cause.
