I have a 98' F150 and it recently has developed a horrible squeak on the passangers side in the front. Everytime I go over a bump or turn the wheel it makes awful noises. Anyone have any Ideas on what it could be?

Sounds like a loose belt.

If it happens only on turns or bumps, look at the ball joints or maybe a tie rod. Possible shock, but low on the list.

Known for bad ball joints and are not cheap. The upper balljoint is more the the lower, the whole upper control arm has to be replaced.Do the bottom one do at the same time and stick with Moog, has a lifetime warranty and avoid the cheap ball joints.

Thanks guys. I took it to a machanic at this little fast lube. He said the ball joints looked good.

The proper way to check the balljoints on them is to put weight on them.Putting on a hoist and lowering the truck with jackstands on the front, the lower A frames

My bad I just saw the word squeal and replied too quick.

How hard is it to change out ball joints?

That's OK ctwright. Happens to everyone. Just glad to see more people inputting ideas. Chicks6241, you might also want to try spraying some lubricating oil on the bushings on the control arms and bounce the truck up and down to see if the noise lessens. wafrederick is correct on how to diagnose a loose or worn out ball joint. If it is rusted or "frozen", that may or may not work. Do not overlook the tie rod ends also.

"I took it to a machanic at this little fast lube. He said the ball joints looked good."

"Turns out it was a Ball joint"

I admit I am prejudiced, but these two statements by the OP are the best evidence that one should never put oneself in the position of having to say "I took it to a machanic at this little fast lube"

As I say, I am prejudiced, but would any strongly disagree with advising posters that mechanical advice should not be sought at the 'Jiffy Pro'?

It was a relative who owned the place and my mom asked me to have him check it out. Turns out he specializes in oil lol.
