Rough idle 1999 Grand Prix

I have a rough idle when starting my 1999 Grand Prix after it's been off for a few hours. I'm looking to give it a tune up and I want to replace the fuel filter as part of this, however, the page I listed here that used to have the instructions is gone: http://www.pfyc.com/supportfiles/gasfilter/ Does anyone have this saved somewhere else? As I recall, it was fairly simple but the pics do help.

PFYC reorganized their web site and the link is now history. But replacing the fuel filter is not difficult. Just follow proper safety and make sure the battery negative cable is disconnected and fuel pressure bled off at the Schrader valve on the fuel rail before removing the filter.

Thanks for the reply and the welcome. I had one other question: When I take the old filter off, I know gas will leak out of the filter itself but what about the fuel line? Will it leak a lot? I was just wondering because obviously the fuel line is lower on the vehicle than the gas tank.

You should be ok as far as major leaking. The gas that will come out will be whats already in the line. I just put a small pan underneath to catch what ever did come out. Just make sure to release the pressure first or gas will spray everywhere (I know from experience).

There will be some minor gas from the right side fitting (quick disconnect) on the fuel filter to the gas tank but not much. The fuel from the gas tank will not drain out due to the disconnect fitting. Just have a drip pan ready to catch any. Most of the fuel will be in the filter and come from the pressure line to the fuel rails. To help drain that out you can run the engine before starting the job and pull the fuel pump fuse until the engine dies out.
