First things first, I have a 98 Z24. It has developed a coolant leak. I'm trying to identify the problematic part. OK here goes. If your standing in front of the car, on the right side of the motor, just below the valley of the cam housings, is a black plastic neck that looks like a thermostat housing, but has written on it "thermostat located at water pump". It appears to have a sensor located in it, a hose from the right side of the radiator runs to it, and also looks as if a hose from the heater core (since its comming thru the firewall) runs to it. I'm leaking from this "neck" peice. Maybe a gasket, not sure. If someone could please identify this part it would be greatly appreciated.

It's the "water outlet housing". The plastic around the o-ring that seals it likes to break, allowing the o-ring to move out of place. You'll need the housing, the o-ring, and 2 hose clamps (one for each hose), DO NOT reuse the spring clamps because they usually start to leak if reused. Be sure you clean up the machined surface on the head so the o-ring can seal. I usually use some permatex gasket maker to seal it up, just coat the o-ring with it, then install the o-ring on the housing, then install the housing. Flush the coolant after you're done, when coolant gets bad it will start to eat away at the plastic, and that's why they fail to begin with.
