My 98 Venture was side-swipped while parked and my mirror was broken. My mirror is electric but not heated. I found one on a popular auction site that is heated at a decent price. My assumption is that the wiring connector is probably the same but may have an extra wire or two for the heater. Is this a correct assumption ? Would the heated mirror work ok with the regular electrical controls and funciton as a standard non-heated mirror? Thanks

Right on both questions. Just put a piece of electrical tape over the end of the (heat) wire.
The wire for the heated mirrors (If installed) is separate and has a separate switch on the dash console. (Rear defrost switch)

Just put a piece of electrical tape over the end of the (heat) wire.
The mirror comes with a wiring harness and all wires go to the connector. There isn't any way to put a piece of tape of the end of the heater wire unless I cut it. I guess if I just plug in the harness the extra wire won't hurt anything since the other end doesn't go anywhere. I was just concerned that the plug might be different and cause it not to work.

I do have a rear defrost switch but no heated mirrors. I now wonder if the heated mirror will work since I have the rear defrost option. ?? I guess I will find out this weekend when I try to install it.
Thanks

You can just hook the wiring plugs together and test the switch and remote mirror controls without mounting the mirror.
The heated mirrors on my Silo were on a 15 minute timer along with the rear hatch window defrost. The mirrors don't get hot, just barely warm to defrost ice.
