Hello Again…
After I publish, in the “Finish Project” (Ferrari 275 GTB Nart Spyder (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=936520)), my first model after many years, I try my first WIP.

I 'll try to complete two Testarossa‘s and one Mythos.
As you understand, I ‘m another Ferrari Fun…

The kits are from Tamiya for the Ferrari Testarossa and Pinifarina Mythos and from Fujimi for the 512TR.

I also, make some progress, so wait for new photo soon.

Here the photos from kit investigation…

Great project!
I already saw WIP threads with several people building the same car, but never one with someone building 3 different models, especially 3 Ferraris!

I'll follow this one closely.
Good luck! :)

Nice project, I will definitely wath the progress closely.

I also plan to build a whole Ferrari bunch with app. 20 different models. I suggest you to get the Fujimi Koenig Special Testarossa if you feel like as that model is also built upon the base of the Testarossa to the best of my knowledge. It also has a street version with no rollcage so probably suits the theme you chose.

Thanks for the good words and for support to my project.
First of all I want to say a Big Thanks to all, for the tips and ideas, which I found on this great place.
As well, I want to explain, that isn‘t a production line project, but a build collection of similar cars. So I won’t build 3 flat twelve engines in the same time, but one by one separately.

I make some progress..
I completed Mythos front suspensions. I replace molded-in plastic coil springs with realistic real metal springs and I painted it with Taniya ‘s semi gloss black. Finally I dry brushing it, with gun metal and aluminum.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_07.jpg

Great moments for this wip are the heat red painting. I make some holes in distributer and this is the result…. The red color are from Gunze acrylics series.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_10.jpg

I also update the engine ‘s C-17 part with some plastic sheet in the back, to close the hole. I I painted it with Taniya ‘s semi gloss black too.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_11.jpg

I prime the Mythos Engine with Zero‘s Grey Primmer. Before this I put some bolts to the bottom of the engine.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_09.jpg

In ‘84 Testarossa I plan to replace Tamiya ‘s B21 and B22, with this, from an old Monogram Testarossa kit. I found it more realistic with the real one. In Mythos I use the Tamiya kit.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_12.jpg

A photo from the real Testarossa engine.

Hello Again…
I make some progress… after I burn‘t my right hand this weekend. :crying:

I purchased this detail set by Scaledetails from eBay. Contains many pieces, but no instructions. This set can used to Testarossa’s and F40‘s.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_37.jpg

So I update the Testarossa Flat 12 engine. I plan to paint it with Alclad’s polished aluminum.
As you see, I also update the exhaust system (black parts) with top parts, from an old modeling brush (the usual brush cover :loser:).

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_35.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_34.jpg

After that I update the brakes.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_36.jpg

At the same time, I ‘m working with Mythos. I plan to finish Mythos first. So I will do only major updates and some wiring in the engine.
I paint the engine with Alclad’s polished aluminum and the chassis with Tamiya‘s semi gloss black.
I complete the engine, after some wire in cooling system, in ignition, and in engine’s top.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_13.jpg

Sorry for the bad photo, but I’m hurry :licka: to fit in chassis. The results…

Hello again,
We are in Easter Holidays here in Greece, so it’s good time for some updates…

It’s interior time…

For Mythos it fixed it, with no major updates. I ‘m not satisfied with the result but I live with it. I paint the seats with Mr Color red, and creacoted it with semi-gloss clear.
I choose this color to represented leather color, which is different from body color. We ‘ll see the result.
The seatbelts are from a Crazy Models set. I ‘m not satisfied too, with the material. Maybe I replace it with something better in near future. Any proposals?

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_08.jpg
(http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_08.jpg)

To the Testarossa now.
I think the job, to my Testarossa interior are much better.
I paint the seats with LifeColor ‘s Earth Tan and with Brown (or something similar). I flocking following Alex ‘s instructions (many thanks). Another Crazy Models (two points this time) set for the seatbelts.

After this enjoyable interior job, I started to thinking for exteriors.
I sanded the spur plastic lines with Finishing Abrasive #1200, #2000 and #3200. (sorry no photos) for all three bodies.
After a good wash, I sprayed it with Zero Grey Primer. Here the 512TR body (if you miss that I am going to build it.)

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_24.jpg
(http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_24.jpg)

I am going to paint Testarossa and Mythos with Zero 323 Ferrari Red (less bright than 300).

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_25.jpg
(http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_25.jpg)

I want to make a question about this buildup stage. It is necessary to use a Cleaning Solution product (like Key and Clean),after I sanded and wash primed body?

Also for the 512TR I don’t decide the Exterior or the Interior Color. So I wait for your suggestions.

I wait for your comments.

The Testarossa interior looks great!

As for the color I'd chose between red, yellow and black.

PS: Don't rush it, take your time. :)

Very nice update, the Testarossa interior looks fantastic.
As for the 512, I would say silver and white can also be cool for the body!

For the 512 TR I'd like to suggest painting it yellowwith black interior.
If I'm not mistaken, that is the color in which it was first reveiled to the public on the Brussels Salon. They chose yellow because it is the official race-color for Belgium.
I remember this because I went to the salon the take a peek at it...

Hello Again…
In web search I found this and I want to share with us.
It‘s an unbelievable use of a classic Testarossa… I think all guys (almost) agree that Ferrari is a religion! :grinyes:

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/TestaRossa1984_21.gif

I make some progress…

It ‘s time for body paint. I paint the Mythos and Testarossa with Zero 323 Ferrari Red
Before that I primed the bodies with Zero Grey Primer. Next time I gone use white primer. As I see here may take better result.

The red bodies after 3 or 4 light paint layers, looks something like this :

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_28.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_27.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_26.jpg

In my 275 GTB, I have many issues with Zero Clear Coat. I try to be carefully know, and I gone polished it better.

What‘s your opinion for the body paint? I use a Badger 175 Crescendo (I have it 15 years…). :lol2:

After that I mask the Testarossa’s body and I paint black the window trim, and the grilles in front, in rear and in engine cover.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_29.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_30.jpg

I parked for a while the Mythos, until the cleacoating procedure starts…

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_33.jpg

I decide to finish the Mythos first, so I cleacoat only the Mythos body. After that I polished with Wax and attached some details (dashboard, steering wheel, etc.)
I am not satisfied with the result but I ‘m learning for my faults. :banghead: I hope to Testarossa and 512TR I do better job.:uhoh:

Sorry for the bad photos but the polished body looks like :

I sprayed 3 thin clear layers and one heavier (this is my mistake).
I try to polish again with wax.

I'd rather try with Tamiya polishing compounds (Fine and Finish), with the wax it will take an eternity to get rid of that OP.

Hello Again…
I make some progress in 512 TR…
We start with interior parts. After I primed with an old Humbrol grey…

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_54.jpg

I start some enhancement to the seats. I begin by cutting the headrest off the seat.
I attached seats backs, from evergreen thin styrene. After that, I make some holes for headrest.
I choose to cut the headrest, from one seat (for driver only) for an asymmetrically and more realistic view. In many cases, I think, the passenger don‘t adjust the headrest, just enjoys the ride…
So we have this:

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_55.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_56.jpg

The interior‘s color, are German Desert Yellow :naughty: (FS30400) from Lifecolor!! I chose a lighter tone, than Testarossa’s interior. The dashboard painted with semi gloss black.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_57.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_58.jpg

The engine parts painted with Alclad‘s Aluminum, after a regular masking procedure. As you see, I cut the exhaust system from the back of the engine. (Fujimi give it in one piece with the chassis).

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_59.jpg

Finally I decide to paint exterior with Zero‘s Jet Black color. I already have it, in my stock (I don’t really know where can use it. I bought it, after a mistake… the correct paint, that I realy want are a Lotus black.:loser:)

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_60.jpg

After that, the body cleacoated with Zero‘s Laquer and waxed.

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_61.jpg

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_62.jpg

That concludes these update. I planning to finish the 512TR soon, so stay tuned..

Aaaa, this is not a good modelling picture, but I like it, so I want to share it, with the guys here. Gilles watching my job…

http://i547.photobucket.com/albums/hh451/gtziaf/WIP_Testarossa_81.jpg

After that, I detailed and the body, from its inside part with some mesh, like radiators, behind front grilles and under engine cowling.

So you can take some update‘s of my 84‘s Testarossa.

A little conclusion...
In this thread (my first wip), I try many new things and technics.
I don 't know if it is an interesting building diary, but I try. I want to know the goods and the bad things.
Also I l'll try to improve my skills for the upcoming model buildings.
Thanks again for your comments and your advises.
