Hey folks, My 3.1 regal started leaking oil near the timing cover,so I removed the wheel well cover , found old belt parts wrapped around the bottom pulley,do you think that could have caused the seal to start leaking, oil is only in that general area. My belt broke this winter and had a garage pick it up and fix it. I guess this is what you get for not doing it yourself. It took half hour with 90 degree needle nose to get it all out!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! will be watching this thread for input, thanx again Automotive Forums

I would say there's a good chance the old belt particles had a part in the seal's demise. The crank seal can be replaced separately, or it comes as part of a timing cover gasket kit. You will have to remove the harmonic balancer to do it.

slipping, fluid level is good, also added some tranny cleaner a week ago.It worked ok,now back to slipping more than likely the trans filter needs to be changed, did that on the 94 Trans Port also, sure like the quick responses here, will keep watching.
