hi guys i'm new here but need some help. i have a 1990 towncar that i got cheap runs super i had to put new exhaust on it before i could drive it but it feels like to me that the transmission is shifting to fast. it almost feels like its going from first gear to 3rd or overdrive.if i shift it with the lever all gears work and feel fine. it seems to be a great car but i'm not sure what is the problem here. thanks for any help.

I think that one has the tv cable on it. That can affect the shifting. You can see the whole adjustment procedure at lincolnsonline.com It's a very easy procedure. There is also a modulator on the back of the transmission, it has a vacuum line connected to it. That might be your problem as well. Pull the line off and see if there is any trans fluid leaking out, there shouldn't be any there. Some of the older modulators have an adjustment screw in the end, you can see it when you pull the line off. It's been years since I have fooled with one. I can't remember the adjustment procedure on that one. Maybe some one else here can answer that. Good luck
