96 braada throttle body

i have a 96 bravada and went browsing around for info about fuel econ and power increases. i started with k&n air filter, then about a week later i did the "swiss cheese" air box mod and finally about a week after the air box i read about a mod that involved taking off the restrictor plate on the bottom of the throttle body butterfly valve off.
after the throttle body mod i noticed a wonderful increase of power but the engine wants to run fast, by that i mean if i start off at stop and dont accel it will get to about 25mph and shift into second with out me pressing the accel pedal. i did plug the holes in the butterfly valve with a rivit that i put in the place of the stock rivits that held the plate on.
now for my question, has anyone ever done this modification and if so what was the result.

I haven't done that mod but you might look for unplugged vacuum lines and the possibility of the butterfy shaft & TPS not being in the stock position
or,
the restrictor plate being part of the throttle and it's removal leaving a gap or opening that allows more air in.

You shouldn't remove the restrictor plate, just modify it which takes some precision, or easier yet get a mod kit for it here www.cfm-tech.com
your idle might reduce as the ECM resets the IAC valve over time, but don't count on it.
