Blower Motor Resistor Replacement

2001 Grand Prix SE

What is the easiest way to get this thing out? I can get to the front screw and can see one of the back screws but the layer of sound proofing or whatever against the firewall wont' let me get a socket in there. I can't even see the third one.

My Haines manual doesn't give any details for getting the thing out.

Does the whole blower motor really have to come out? Seems like if I could just loosen those back screws I could slide the old one off of them and the new one on.

Suggestions?

yea its a b_tch, but the best way to get that thing out is to use a flexabble 1/4" nut driver it'll take little time while you're on your head but take your time

When I did mine I pulled the blower motor and the front seat it made it so much easier. I use a wobble extension that is made by Snapon tools, it makes it so much easier to do the back screws.

To make the job easier you always pull the blower motor. On the two back screws on the resistor assembly all you have to do is loosen them and not take screws out completely since they are slotted (BMR screw holes).

Hey doc. Thanks for thinking about me. We got lucky and it missed West Texas but hit the Panhandle. Temps dropped some here but not too bad. Heater still comes in handy in the early morning. :lol:
