Colin Powell when asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of empire building by W: "Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return." There was no response, only silence.

That's a great response from Powell. IMO, he is a very intelligent man, and if he ran for President, he definately has my vote.

The selection criteria for U.S. President appears to be very rigid. If you are not a white male with a lot of money, you'll never make it to the White House. Thus, instead of getting the best person for the job,America has to make do with the least awful of the millionaires who want to play politician.

i heard he declined it because his wife was afraid if he won, he'd be assassinated...

I have too agree he'd be a great pres but I think that after W is done he'll get a 2nd term then Rudy might run he said. He'll get in if he runs then Powell will probbly be too old. Hes doing great work right now and if he ran he'd get my vote

I don't know about that, afterall, don't think that Mexico just handed us most of the western United States without a fight! -either that or we had alot of dead to bury.
