Ok i got a 2200 sfi engine on a 98 cavalier RS and my max speed on my tac shows 110mph. But i seen a 2000 cavalier ALSO running a 2200 sfi engine but had a top speed on the tac of 220mph. Im kinda new to the motor part im more of a body person, but i would like to have a higher range of mph on my tac like the 2000 model did, past 110mph lol but i dont wanna do an engine swap since i have seen that same engine on cars with more mph. Any ideas or know what i can do to take my car from 110mph to higher range?

I will only say this once to you since you are new. The car is governed by the PCM to cut fuel at 108mph and won't start fuel supply again till 5mph slower. These are on the cars for a reason. A j-body is an economy box not meant for high speeds or racing of any sorts. The braking and suspension on this cars are very very poorly responsive and not even close to being safe for traveling any faster than posted speed limits.
Also, you have no reason to be going that fast. The 2200 motor is a pile dong performance wise, and without dumping thousands of dollars into motor work to be able to shove 20+psi down its throat with a turbo charger you aren't going to even hit 108 in the 1/4mile. It makes a measly 115hp at the crank and you'd be lucky to see 95-100hp at the wheels.
Swapping in another motor that came on a J-body isn't going to get you any faster than that 108mph either. All J-bodies were governed the same way, WHY? Because of what I stated before, they are not even remotely safe for high speeds.
I've spent countless hours researching, working, toying and tinkering with these cars left and right getting mine to do what its capable of. I even had over $25k invested into my sedan, and I still would never feel 100% safe driving any faster than needed to in it. Sure I could get my car up to 144mph in a hurry with it boosted... But I also had a $2,000 Tein SS suspension, Disc brakes all around with high end performance oriented pads and rotors, Supercharger, and the knowledge on how to tune my car.
Is the limiter able to be taken off the car? Absolutely, but there is no way in gods name will I disclose that information to you driving around a stock cavalier with a couple dinky bolt on mods at most.
You show me a setup like ours on our fully built and boosted 2200 sucking down 22psi and we'll talk...

again thanx for the info bro posted this 2 sec after i asked u the last question so sorry for the somewhat double post. There wasnt alot of research done before buying this car and it was a quick purchase not realizing it only pushes 108mph. my 92 mx6 pushed to about 126mph on drag track and i swap it for the cavi mostly cause i like the body and that car was turning to crap. But again thanx for the info i am thinking about keeping it and just trying to find an integra or 240sx to supe up, again thanx for the info and heads up.
