99 Intrigue 3.5L - P0410 -Service Engine Code - Help

I actually had two codes, the other was P0742 (it turned out to be the entire transmission). I still have the P0410 code to contend with. It gives the following information, and unfortunately I need to get the car smogged by the end of April. Any ideas on what to do? I've read other forums and there seem's to be alot of problems isolating the correct fix. The fan runs and a can hear a very faint and intermittent whine (occasionally) when idyling.

Code 0410 - Secondary air injection system fault.
1. Circuit relay defective or fuse open
2. Check connector and wiring
3. Air pump defective or hoses blocked

Take a look at the following link for your P0410 Code. The secondary air injection pump is an electrical pump that puts raw air into the ehaust manifold upon start-up to heat the converter and prevent emissions.

The 3.5L 2002 Aurora does share the same engine as the 3.5 Intrigue. This little pump draws a lot of current, enough to dim the headlights.. They have also been known to pull in water, which corrodes the pump.

But given that you just replaced the transmission, I'd check connections to the oxygen sensor as well that might have been disconnected.
