ok today the shop is intsalling eibach sportline springs(1.8"), KYB AGX gas shocks, and thermal full-catback exhaust. After today I will only have about $350 left to spend on stuff. I was planning on saving up to get rims but now im tihnking that i should hold off on rims altogether. I want to swap a GSR engine into my car. So I dont know if I shold just start saving now or get rims and stuff then save up. I currently dont have a job until summer and its a low paying summer job. So the question is should I save up for the engine or the rims? I probably wont swap til like this time next year... cuz my engine only has 27,XXX miles on it and its an HX, so ill save gas money if i keep it longer. The highest amount of money ill make this summer is $$3,000 but it will probably be less then that. How much should i have set aside for the swap? 3.5-4 grand? thanks any help is great...

kill your motor first..if you want rims then pick some up. another $100 could get you some slipstreams. do you have a rear disk conversion yet?
$350 will pick that up for you. have you upgraded your front brakes?
just some more ideas :)

set atleast 5g's aside for the swap

technically..NO. but would'nt you want your car to be top notch before you put +75 more ponies in your car?

haha you know whats funny? this is one situation where honda's amazing reliability actually plays against you. try to piss out an hx motor. haha thats funny. the only way i see that happening is either taking a sledge hammer to it or draining the oil and filling the engine with sand. and either way it would probably last longer then you can wait to get that swap. :D :D

WOW!! 75 more HP from a swap?!?! Holy crap! That's AMAZING! I didn't know you could get that kind of power for like $5k! If I knew I could spend that much money and get so little HP and TQ, I would have never spend that sorry ass $2k on my turo kit that only gives me 100 WHP! Geez, don't I feel stupid!

when I bought my civic it had 76,000 miles on it. I got it december 14th... now it is near 84,000 miles :-( I HATE to see these miles go up! but no matter WHERE I go.. I am told that my engine will last forever! true?

Would it shorten the life of it if I keep flooring it here and there?

Yes, flooring your car often will shorten engine lifespan. No engine is indestructible, not even Honda, so to maintain it, you have to ease off the accelerator every now and then.

:( I wish I had discipline on that because my foot is very heavy and is always doing that.. What do I risk ruining if I do that? Engine and tranny? what specificly? and could it blow anytime it wants? like even now?

Do you feel you have to be this place or that place faster? Im sorry, but it really bothers the crap out of me when people rape their engines by flooring them too damn much, and then wonder why they have mechanical problems. I do floor it in my car every once in a while, but not to excess and not all the time. Just treat your car good and it will last you.

I do it all the time, but I'm addicted MAN!

I wonder if there is a T.A. (Turbocharged Anonymous) support group around??

possibly, my dads 93 lx has 250,xxx on it and its still running, im sure it would make it to 300,000 miles, altho it is having fuel delivery problems and its on the original clutch

I'm at 165000 and counting. The engine still purrs. But no, I don't drive it hard - just the occasional spurt here and there. Yer car's good to go...just follow the factory recommended maintainence schedule. If you really wanna feel good about owning a Honda, check this page out: http://www.hondabeat.com/hbeat/highmiles.cfm. Some guy here says he drove his Prelude past 700000. Course most of those people aren't fast driver types, I don't think.

OKay how about if I swap in a SiR engine into my car? would that cut the cost down a lot? on hmotorsonline.com i can get the SiR for $$2350.00 not counting shipping. how much do you think it would befor shipping and labor and everything?

i dont think you would be happy with that, if you want more power go spend like 500 bucks and get a zex kit until you have enough for a gsr swap or something
