Im new to the forum. a good friend used it before. http://www.lincolnownersclub.com/phpBB3/images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif so Hear is the trouble Iv encountered:

I bought my 2002 LS from the dealer as a used certified car. I love the car its amazing but latley it has giving me a few burps..
1st problem::::::: when it shifts into 3rd gear under load... usually low RPM I feel 3-5 little jerks(not super noticable) then it goes away once I give it more throttle.
2nd:::::::::::::::: when I was playing around with it today under heavy acceleration the RMPS will clime but its reall speeds up then slows down for a fraction of a second them goes back to climing.. its not a timed re-accurance its hapens at diff RPM for the most part... and random.. its not a steady clime how it should be... Then after a few seconds of acceleration the jerks/hickups then the check endine light comes on. Thiss has been a re-accuring problem theat iv been monitoring. I took her home and hooked up my mac tools code reader and everytime it says ~~MISSFIRE IN cylinder 1~~

The air filter is new, fuel filter Is new.. I just picked up all the materials to do a service. tranny fluid... tranny filter... engine oil... engine filter...

im Just wondering if anyone had had anything like this happen to thier LS.. Also let me mind you the car only has 2,200 mile on it sence I bought it from the dealer but all in the general the car has 82,000 miles.... and it does not have the slap stick tranny.

Are there RMPs sensors or some other sensors that would give it this feeling that the computer is de-fueling it for a second then decides to give it fuel back???

thanks for the interest in my post

Welcome to the forum!

Do you have the V6 or V8? It doesn't really matter here though since the likely solution is the same. However, it will be much easier to fix on the V8 than on the V6.

This is a very common occurrence on the early LS cars. Please try out the "Search this forum" feature from the LS forum main page. Use the keyword 'misfire' and you'll likely be overwhelmed by the number of hits. Like I said, this issue is well understood with the LS.
