Hi, I am 16 and i am looking to buy a sporty used car this summer. My price range is under $5000. So i have been researching preludes and i like the gen 5 ones, but the only ones in my price range that i can find have well over 100,000 miles on them. My question is, are there any significant problems that i would be likely to have with a car of this mileage? Such as, electrical problems, transmission malfunctions and stuff like that. Another question i have is, are gen 5 preludes generally expensive to maintain/repair? I am also looking at The Mk4 VW GTIs. Thanks

Put it this way. I have a 94 with 210k on it, and it runs fine. No problems. Wiring is solid, no problems with anything. 100k on a 5th gen is average. When you go look at it, check under the car for oil leaks etc.

I think the 4th Gen is more reliable.

I just got one bout a month ago with 122000 miles on it besides having to use premium fuel only and having my starter break already everything else is Ok hopefully nothing else will mess up but is a nice car
