Break llight fault

I have a BMW 318, year 2000. I keep getting the stop light warning malfuction light coming on in the cab, it does not happen all the time, comes and goes. I've changed the bulbs and checked the wiring in the boot. Anybody had this fault, if so what's wrong?

It's the brake light switch - it is just in front of, and actuated by the pedal.

It's about a $15 part from the dealer, and not too hard to replace.

There's two kinds - a 2 prong and a 4 prong. You'll need to get under there to see which one you have.
