Problems with a Mariner Torque Converter

I have an 05 mariner that had the torque converter replaced under warranty 1 year ago. It just went out again, and its not under warranty this time. At 3 grand a pop, this is more than troubling. The FLM rep says they can do nothing for me. A torque converter strikes me as something that should be replaced once in the lifetime of a vehicle, not every year or so. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in Advance,

Scott.
