Shops in the Los Angeles Area??

Can anyone recommend any shops in the Los Angeles area? I want to install my CAI with AEM bypass valve. It's too much for me to do on my own :p Too much cutting involved and I don't have the tools or the experience. Anyway, does anyone know of a reliable shop who won't rip me off?? This is my first mod and I want it to go smoothly.:D

Oh, one more question... how much can I expect to pay for the install??:help: :help: :help:

Thanks again. I'll try sometime this week after I get a couple midterms out of the way.

Just wondering, what kind of G20 do you have? P11 or P10?

You can't use the AEM bypass value with the intake, from what I've heard. If you want to do it yourself, I'm more than willing to give you a hand if you want to learn how to work on your car. I've got tons of tools and have done lots of work on SE-Rs and G20s.

In SD, SR20Development can do it for you. I don't know of a good shop here in LA.

It's true the AEM bpv isn't made specifically to work with the hotshot intake, however, it's just a matter of making it work. The reason i'm hesitant to work on it myself is i have to cut the intake to make the BPV fit. I also have to cut a hole to fit the pipe in the front. There's also the issue of the MAF placement. Kind of a big project for someone who's experience is limited to replacing the bulbs and stereo installation :D

It's not that hard, really. I think the bypass valve needs to be installed in front of the MAF, but there might not be room. I'd have to look at it to see what the deal is.

I wouldn't trust 99.999% of the shops out there to do this kind of thing. Only one I'd trust is SR20Development. I've seen what "reputable" shops did to a friends car for a clutch swap. I'll do all my own work, that you very much.

BUMP! just wanted to bump this thread up cuz this is getting ridiculous. I still haven't gotten my CAI (w/bpv) installed. It's my fault... i keep letting school and work get in the way hehe :D

at one point Hotshot told me they would do it for $50, but when i called them back to set up an appointment they said they don't do installs... i guess i'm on my own after i buy their stuff

Anyway, all the places I've found that could do the job have been asking 150 - 200 for the install! WTF that's just crazy. Anyway, please please please tell me if anyone knows of a good, reasonably priced tuner shop in the Los Angeles Area (preferable near UCLA or the San Fernando Valley). Thanks in advance.

I've used TRS/Group 4 also. They're right on Washington in Culver City. Ask for Gwan. They generally have a few SR20 powered cars in front of the shop (and a bunch of Honda's). They did a clutch for me in my classic, and poly motor mounts in my NX2000. I don't have any complaints.

COoo I got my CAI installed finally. Went with Andrew and Dan, took it to TRS. Gwan and Haji said hi. Real cool guys, and you're right, they love nissans. It was a little pricey, but not outrageous.

I got a few questions for those with a CAI/BPV in their P11's. It was a very tight fit... my CAI is rubbing in a few places, i'm afraid it might come loose from banging around while driving. Anyone else with the same problem? any fixes?

Also, there's a small hose that is supposed to be attached to the metal piece just before the BPV, but the hotshot kit didn't comes with a hole for it. Engine light doesn't come on, but what is this hose? and is this a problem??

One more question, how often do you clean the filter on your CAIs??

Thanks

I'm glad you had a good experience at TRS. I was just by there today and talked to Gwan.

He mentioned that he'd worked on your car... and then he casually asked me if I wanted to buy a Sunny GTi-R that he had sitting behind the shop. $7200. I almost didn't believe him until I saw it with my own eyes. I like that place. You never know what you'll see there.
