hey guys, I have a 98' contour gl, and I am wanting (because it is sooo slow) to make it Really loud, and wanting to know what would be the best way to go about this. I was planning on an exhaust, and possibly an intake, to add some power. but mainly i just want it to be very loud without spending like $300.00. thanks

If you want loud, remove the exhaust completely.
But why would you want it really loud? :confused: LOUD does not sound good at all. Trust me.

well, yeah i knew that. im not trying to make it sound like shit tho.I guess what im basically wanting to do is give it a real low loud growl, not like i put a coffee can on the back of it. like with an exhaust, and possibly an intake but I dont wanna spend a ton of $$$ ya no. im wondering what the best exhaust would be the best to get

If you want a nice sounding exhaust, your going to have to spend a few hundred dollars. A cherry bomb muffler on the back is it going to cut it. I'm assuming you have the 4 cylinder so unfortunately, something custom is going to need to be made or you can try modifying a Focus catback. Expect to pay about $300-$600. Probably more than you want to spend, but you cant expect to have a quality sounding exhaust with cheap components.

Imagine the most annoying sounding Honda that everyone laughs at because he thinks his exhaust sounds so amazing. Thats pretty close.
You could always try and find an SVT exhaust and have that modified to fit. I know people that have done that.

Your best bet is the classifieds over on the contour forums at www.contour.org. People are always parting out SVTs.

On the duratec it is. I would assume its probably the same on the zetec but you may want to double check.
