98 backfires when i accelerate

my 98 neon sohc sometimes has a slight underhood backfire would this just be plugs or could it be timing or bad injectors etc. it only seems to do it like when im accelerating like at hiway speeds with a load on the engine

i would try and replace the plugs and wires, also perform a compression test while the plugs a reout

good compression would be 125-175 they should all be between about 10 of eachother
