ive been lookin around for a car that i can hook up really nice......ive been lookin at some 240sx's and some 93-94 civic hb's or should i take my pops 00' gts......money is also a prob....i dont have money to buy a brand new car......wut kinda car do u guys think i should get that i can make fast but i dont want it to b too fast?

I could have given him that link and many others, but the bottom line is that the 2ZZ-GE hasn't been embraced by the aftermarket community. There are very few parts for it, and the few parts that are available are expensive. The K-Series from Honda is roughly two years newer and has more aftermarket support than the 2ZZ. I don't know why Toyota didn't just stick with the 3S-GE and put that in the Celica especially since the 3S is in a few other vehicles still.

Honestly and I aint trying to start no gay ass impoort vs domestics flame war but I think you should get a Dumbestic with an 8 cylinder. Your young dont have a lot of money want to be fast ( but not that fast? then was the point of being fast at all?) Anyway parts would be cheap - Stock youd be burning most of those crappy cars you were thinking of to begin with -- 240sx (crap) , GTS (more crap) , Honda HB ???? (are u fuggin nuts KING of rice). And you wouldnt have to drop tons of money to get that factory beast of an 8 cylinder even faster then what you started with. Down side Gas mileage but hey if you wanna play fast and furious you gotta pay somehow.

I think if you have the option, sell the GTS. Try to find a 96-98 Civic, (hatchbacks are gay, they look like an egg on wheels), 2 or 4 dr, doesn't matter, with higher miles, but not too high. I believe they give you the best value for your money. Honda engines last almost as long as Ford truck engines, up around the 200-300,000 mile range, if taken care of properly. The cars are light weight and you don't have to put alot of money into the engine to get it going fast. An intake, exhaust, a few pulleys, and if there is enough money you make the car dual exhaust and put out more power plus a good sound. With that you'll be going pretty fast, but not too fast. My friend has an Eclipse GS with just an exhaust and all he did for an intake was cut off his air filter box and he has hit 145 mph in that car. The only thing is that Eclipses have too many problems, so you'll be spending more money fixing the car. Buy the Honda, add a few mods to the engine, fix up the body and you'll be good to go. Later you can decide to add turbo and all that good stuff. True it is, domestics are faster cars, but they are heavier cars so it takes more to push them in the high end. If you're wanting to go domestic your best bet is either an 88-90 5.0 mustang gt or cobra, or go with a 93-96 Camaro Z-28, but these make your insurance skyrocket. Imports have cheaper insurance, for example: I'm 21 almost 22 with my own policy, and I pay only $70 a month for a 4 dr civic. Anyways it's your decision on what to do, we're just here for suggestions.

You've also got to factor in the driver. I have another friend who has two brothers. Rick (oldest), Mike (middle), and Gary (youngest). Rick had a '89 Camaro V-6 and Mike had a '82 Camaro V-8, but Rick could shift with the best of them and would beat Mike 9 times outta 10, but then Gary bought the V-6 and would lose just as easy. My friend with the GS is a pretty good driver. He's had the car for over 4 yrs now and is used to the 5 speed. He's learned alot about racing, he can drift (not too good cuz his car won't let him, plus there really aren't any good drifting spots), and he's learned alot about swinging his back end around to catch those sharp turns faster, plus even more about straight racing.

launch, condition of ur car, how much gas in each car, tires, condition of each lane, if u underestimated him the 1st time...all those. im not tryin to doubt that its 14's, but thats a VERY quick time for only a gs w/ i/e, considering they are a 16 second car stock...
thas a second an a half off of its stock time w/ only those two mods. i really think if u raced him down the track, u'd destroy him w/ a mid 14 second car.

You want to know what I drive? Right now it's a 95 F-150 short bed, in-line 6, 5 speed, 300 cu. in. Really slow. In about two hours I'll have a '98 Honda Civic with intake, exhaust, and a few pulleys, black widow one body kit, and terminator 2 spoiler, with 17 in chromies. A friend of mine is selling it to me for $6500. Much faster than my truck, but I'm an all show no go type of guy. I'm not much of a racer myself, I'm more into the car shows.

Nothing ricey like lame ass fart cans -double decker spoilers, or shitloads of stickers of mods my car cant even support. I got the "bug" a few years ago, and am converting one of my Z's into a race car -- can't decide whether it will be the 240Z, 280ZX or the 300ZX Turbo. But, there's so much you can do with a Z -- modifications are unlimited -- K&N, Weber, Eibach, Greddy, etc.
However, it is very difficult to find high performance parts for the 280ZX. If money is an issue -- find a Z that has been sitting for less than 5 years (to avoid fuel tank rust and other related problems). You should be able to find one for a very reasonable price if you keep your eyes peeled. Believe me -- I know. Just get a bone stock Z, and you can gradually modify it to your needs (and not have to deal with someone else's bullshit mods, which can cause serious problems). Buy wholesale (see the links provided by Melt). I bought my 4th Z for $96.00 (a 240Z -- only needed carbs, which I converted from the flat tops to bell tops, with the minor added expense of linkage -- runs excellent). Owner distress sales are wonderful! If you're not in a hurry . . . keep your eyes peeled. If I can do it, so can you.
