Maxima wheel problem

Does anyone have an answer to this question?
I drive a Maxima 2001, it is no longer under the 36000 mile warranty. I was driving it and the caliper bolt came loose and cracked the wheel, basically destroyed the passenger side wheel and now it has to be replaced. I called Nissan Corp and they said that it wasnn't a manufacturer's defect and it wasn't covered. I have never had work done on the wheels or the brakes. How would a caliper bolt come loose?
Now I am stuck with paying close to 600$ to have it fixed. I don't think I should have to pay for it. Any suggestions?

call Nissan Corp. maybe they can help
you probably get 4 new wheels you like for around the same money as 1 Nissan alloy wheel
search for new wheels here (http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=DY6&url=/wheels/index.jsp)
