I have a 2007 avalanche I only had it for a little over a year; I've done 5 oil changes to it so far, every time, I managed to reset the display on the cluster that reads the oil life left on it by just trying different things the ignition switch, brake pedal, etc. But this last time I changed it I just wasn't able to remember how I did it before. Does any one knows how.

Its that black thing in the glove box that takes up all that room!
If its missing you can go the GM website, click on the owners link, and download look at a PDF version. Theres a lot of good stuff in there.
How to Reset the Engine Oil Life
System
The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to
change your engine oil and filter based on vehicle
use. Anytime your oil is changed, reset the
system so it can calculate when the next oil
change is required. If a situation occurs where you
change your oil prior to a CHANGE ENGINE
OIL SOON message coming on, reset the system.
Always reset the engine oil life to 100% after
every oil change. It will not reset itself. To reset
the Engine Oil Life System, do the following:
1. Display the OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC.
2. Press and hold the SET/RESET button on
the DIC, or the trip odometer reset stem if
your vehicle does not have DIC buttons,
for more than five seconds. The oil life will
change to 100%.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message
comes back on when you start your vehicle, the
Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat
the procedure.

I follow your instructions, it solved the problem; thank you very much.
Regarding the owner's manual; I try in the past to download it but couldn't find it any where, I'm going to try the site you suggested as soon as I get a chance.

I know this an old thread. But some people might be looking for the same kind of help some day.
With the steering wheel control buttons (the ones located on the steering wheel), select oil life, then simply hold down the enter button. The same way you reset everything in the display. Fuel economy, trip, timer, etc.
