Still Around...

Whats up everybody. Just thought I'd let everybody know im still around. Work, women and pets really take up so much of your time.
The GSX has been out of commission since like november. On a cold night of getting on it i snapped something in the transmission. It goes in first, second, fifth and reverse but no third or fourth. My guess is a pin on the shift fork broke. It sucks not having a garage to work on it. Hopefully I will be getting to it soon. I got an ACT 2100 in the closet ready for when I finally do pull the tranny.
As for the legendary 70whp talon, it suffered a nice crack in the head gasket, so bad in fact, that pressurized water was shooting out from between the block and the head. I fixed it, replaced the timing belt and advanced the timing a tooth. It runs a good bit faster than it did. My guess is 75whp.
Ill be heading to the desert for a few months this summer, but I plan to be on here more often. Hope everybody else is doing good.

It has been a while since I have seen you on here. Thats to bad about the gsx. It starting to get pretty warm here so it shouldn't be a problem getting that tranny out in the next few weeks. Thats if you have time for it.

Brian cranked up the talon but had a motor problem and it had to be torn down again or something.
Yea I added a 20g and killed the clutch on the second pass at Darlington track a few weeks ago.

My DSM hates me...
I had started it back in November and everything was running great. Was adjusting the timing and getting it ready for the road and it stalled out on me. Found out it had run out of what little fuel was in it. Added some more and then started it back up again. No problems... Was sitting there running a few more minutes and BAM! Kept running with no problems... That was strange... Everything appeared to be normal still... Stalled out real slow... Went to restart it and it made awful sounds of death...
I haven't touched it since... Had a little rage issue after that happened so I took a break on it until the weather warmed up here... Now I'm in the process of moving home and I'll actually have a ton more time to work on it now cause all my overtime at work is gone now... So I'll be working on it here in the next few coming weeks after I get the rest of my stuff moved and unpacked and then we'll see where I stand with it... Gonna pull the motor and see what kind of damage there is...
I feel your pain on the tranny... That's about as bad as the time I was going down the road and mine threw a fork through the intermediate shaft and jammed up the entire tranny... Talk about bad luck with these things... Sometimes I wonder why I haven't just sold it yet...

Damn silver that was a new clutch too wasn't it? You must be putting down some good power to the ground. My stock clutch held up to alot of abuse and it still drives ok for daily driving but it does slip a little bit. I'm hoping the ACT 2100 will do fine for me. It said its perfect for 300 awhp which is what I'm estimating I have, but keeps the stock peddle pressure, so hopefully I won't see any CW. That was my biggest concern.
Thats messed up Brian what do you think happened? My buddy that has a GST fully built everything but he fucked up when he took the head to napa to get rebuilt. I guess they didn't put a valve keeper in there right. He ended up dropping the valve and that piston was trashed. It's always something with these cars. But I guess the 15 minutes of fun is worth the 2 months of work we do to these things.

Yea that was a new clutch that went in with the new motor. Less than 10k on it. The clutch was rated at 390 tq at the crank. Wait till you guys see whats going in there next....:evillol:

clutches never seem to be able to handle what they are rated to.

Yeah, fuck clutches. I liked my 2600 fine, but I am just going to say fuck it and shell out for a twin disk when that time comes again.

Ya I still need to find one for my build. Don't feel like going back in there and replacing it after I burn the shit out of it.

I can't wait to see how my new clutch setup works when I get to actually drive the car... If they still use gas by then... :(
I'm not sure what happened. Only thing I can think of by the things I did check is that it jumped timing and bent valves... Or possibly a cam broke? I certainly hope its nothing worse than bent valves, but I have no clue until I tear the motor apart and take a look at things. Weather was getting nicer here and I had thought about moving the car to my buddies garage where we can work on it better, but it got cold again so eff it for a few more weeks. lol

Thats because most ratings are just calculations they have done. So according to the math it should hold that much. But in reality it usually doesn't make it that far.

Or triple digit weather. I think when I installed my exhaust, turbo, and intercooler it was the dead of summer.
Hopefully that ACT 2100 is good for 300 awhp like they said it is.
