Hello all, my dad has a 91 olds cutlasss ciera. The car stalls on him and then will start back and run for a while and then stall again. The SES light comes on my mom had it scaned by a mechanic and he said the TPS was bad, so he got a TPS and replaced it didn't fix the problem. So my mom took it back to the mechanic and it rescanned and he told her it was showing a code for a heat sensor. My dad took it to another mechanic who told him it was pulling 6 or 7 codes so he sugessted putting an ECM in it. He got the ECM and we put it in started the car the SES light came on then went out an stayed out and the idle cleared up and ran fine, oh by the way i forgot to metnion earlier that it idles rough when the SES light is on. The next morning the car did the exact same thing again. I researched online and found that alot of these cars have a problem with the fuel injectors, something to do with the electrical. Rather than spend anouther 100-200 bucks on fuel injectors i told him i owuld post a thread on here and see if anybody else has had the same problem and maybe get a little insight into whats going on. I've always had good luck with the help i've gotten on here. Thanks in advance for any help its much appreciated..

Have you checked fuel filter & pressure? How many miles on vehicle? Have you cleaned the throttle body? BTW injectors avg. $60+ each. Have ICM & COILS tested for overheating. Have CKP sensor tested also.
One thing about the OBD1, they do not monitor much of the system. Test MAP sensor & EGR valve also.

I have the same problem with a car I have. It only does it on warm hot days. In order to keep the car on I have to accelerate the car.

I had stalling problems on my 91 Cutlass Ciera 3.1 and found that it was due to a poor connection on C100 connector going through the firewall.
When car is running, try wiggling the connector to see if that causes it to stall. I had a badly arced/ corroded connection and fixed the problem by putting a jumper wire across the connector. Problem fixed.
Later, had a similar problem with headlights and courtesy lighs not working and again connection at C100 problem. Same solution used.
